Recently, the 2019 annual meeting of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology was held at the alumni entrepreneurial enterprise, Shanghai Shengmin Clinic Co., Ltd. Wang Wei, secretary of the Party Committee of Business School; Zhang Zheng and Zhang Yongqing, associate dean; Yao Xiuwen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Wang Yonglian, director of the Office of the Center for Professional Degree Education; and relevant staff attended the meeting, which was chaired by Secretary General Zong Jiawu.
In her speech, Secretary Wang Wei introduced to the alumni the achievements made by the School in the past two years in the fields of discipline construction and personnel training. She also thanked the alumni for their support in running the school. In May 2018, Business School passed the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) international accreditation, which made it one of the top business schools in the world, the Management Institute obtains the outstanding result; the talented person raises the effect to be remarkable. Adhering to the mission of the alumni association to “connect with alumni, enhance friendship, strengthen cooperation and promote development”, the college plays an important role in promoting the continuous development of the college and the training of talents, at the same time, it is better to promote the school brand effect and serve the development of alumni.
On behalf of the MBA alumni council, secretary-general Zong Jiawu made a summary report on the work over the past year and proposed a work plan for the next phase. President Shi Zhangqiang read out the recommendations for additional council members and submitted them to the general assembly for consideration and adoption. The newly added members introduced themselves and made constructive suggestions on the future work of the alumni association.
Zhang Yongqing, associate dean, hoped that the cultivation of MBA talents can keep pace with the times, adapt to the new situation, and unite the attention and participation of alumni through the school platform, promote the school characteristics of the MBA of the school of management, and build a bridge between alumni and the school, establish a “medical- engineering” combination, so that hospitals + medical devices + schools interact with each other, carry out the concept of MBA + training, and make good use of the medical resources possessed by alumni to develop their needs and potentials, promote the growth of enterprises and provide service to college students, and make the professional degree education of Business School become a high-quality business card of the college.
Yao Xiuwen, deputy secretary, stressed that alumni are an important component and valuable asset of the school. The MBA alumni association has made its own contribution to the development of the school, especially in supporting the School’s participation in international accreditation and student development. The School attaches great importance to the work of alumni and will continue to support the work of the MBA alumni association. It also hopes that the MBA alumni will highlight their own characteristics, it plays a more important role in running schools and colleges and training talents, especially from the angle of integration of disciplines.
Zhang Zheng, associate dean, gave a presentation on the MBA’s work in recent years. He introduced the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology MBA education innovation, keep pace with the times, create a system of thinking, innovative entrepreneurship management and high-end industries, three new era features, paying attention to the unique characteristics of medical devices and the development of artificial intelligence industry in our university, and putting forward that students and alumni should carry out more substantial learning exchange programs, make use of alumni resources, and explore the joint cultivation and cooperation between the university and enterprises, better create the characteristic brand of the Polytechnic MBA.
During the discussion session, everyone spoke freely, expressed their views and spoke enthusiastically. The experience of the alumni can guide the students to start their own business. Some alumni have also raised the hope that the MBA of our school should establish its own brand and label, open up a three-level linkage, and integrate the resources between the School of Management, the college and the alumni, to provide a “visible and tangible” resource platform to form a “medical- engineering” combined with the talent training model to train real practical MBA talents.
