On January 23, the Third Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Research Study Program, organized by the Executive Development Program (EDP) Center of Business School at USST, concluded successfully. The two-week program, which commenced on January 12, brought together 35 participants from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, focusing on China's cutting-edge technologies and industrial innovation through a blended learning model of theoretical sessions and field visits.
Building an Innovative Knowledge Framework
The research study program centered on global development trends, covering six modules: Artificial Intelligence(AI), Emergency Management, Supply Chain Innovation, Investment Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Talent Development. Seven faculty members and industry experts systematically elucidated China's innovation through theoretical frameworks and practical case studies.
Prof. Lei Chao from Shanghai Maritime University's College of Transport & Communications analyzed China-Kazakhstan trade dynamics, emphasizing China's strategic layout and technological advancements in supply chain and logistics. Prof. Qian Ying, from USST Business School, showcased China's scientific approaches to managing major public crises. Associate Prof. Huang Zhongyi from USST presented a smart firefighting framework (Perception-Strategy-Execution) and demonstrated emergency evacuation simulations for metro stations, deepening participants' understanding of urban safety systems.

Prof. Zhou Linjie, from European Center for Peace and Development, University for Peace est. by United Nations, explored how cultural contexts shaped entrepreneurial models and corporate leadership. Faculty members Shen Li, Hu Zhonghui, and Liu Chen addressed topics ranging from digital mental health interventions to AI applications and localized talent development strategies, citing examples like Huawei and Alibaba.

Touching the Pulse of Industrial Innovation
The program included immersive visits to frontline innovation hubs. At Shanghai Stock Exchange, Participants experienced the vitality of global capital markets, while at Zhongqi Environmental Technology Group, they Witnessed China's green circular economy technologies, such as plastic recycling systems.
The participants also visited Shanghai Cell Therapy Group, Yangshupu Waterworks, as well as Low-altitude Economy Exhibition Hall, showcasing China's advancements in drone logistics, eVTOL (electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Aircraft), and Urban Air Mobility (UAM).



Participants highlighted the program as a systematic upgrade of knowledge and a platform for cross-cultural exchange and partnership-building.
The EDP Center of Business School at USST, adhering to its practical, applicable, and results-driven philosophy, leverages academic strengths and Yangtze River Delta industrial resources to foster a knowledge-industry symbiosis. Moving forward, the center will expand collaborations with Kazakhstan and Belt and Road Initiative countries, offering Chinese-style solutions for global challenges.
