Against the backdrop of iterative upgrading of Shanghai's key industries, there is growing demand for higher adaptability of university talent supply to the industrial chain. It has become an urgent issue for higher education how to leverage employment data from industries and enterprises to calibrate the development direction of disciplines and curricula, and deliver high-quality innovative talents that fit the needs of new quality productivity.
On the morning of August 4, Wang Lingyu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST), led a delegation for a research visit to China International Intellectech Group Co., Ltd. (CIIC Group). Liu Deqiang (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President of USST), Yue Haiyang (Vice President of USST), and heads of relevant departments including the Party and Administration Office, Planning and Development Division, Faculty of Systems Management, and Business School accompanied the visit. Tao Jun (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Board of Directors of CIIC), Lv Min (Deputy General Manager of CIIC Technology Talent Co., Ltd.) and other relevant representatives attended the activity.
Wang Lingyu and the delegation first visited Shanghai Xuhui International Talent Hub, toured functional zones including the High-level Talent Home and International Talent Lounge, and learned in detail about the hub's innovative practices in talent introduction, talent services and industrial incubation.
At the follow-up symposium, the two sides carried out in-depth discussions on topics including structural talent gaps in key industries, construction of post competency models, and co-development of internship and training programs. Tao Jun introduced CIIC's full-value-chain human resource solutions. Liu Deqiang introduced USST's overall profile; Yue Haiyang elaborated on the specific measures of USST's comprehensive education reform. In response to CIIC's note that compound talents with engineering expertise and practical delivery capabilities are urgently needed, the two sides reached a consensus to bridge the gap between classroom teaching and industrial practice by introducing industry mentors and real enterprise cases. Wang Lingyu noted that USST looks forward to building a normalized school-enterprise collaboration platform with CIIC Group, deepening cooperation in areas such as talent supply-demand and bringing industry mentors into classrooms, so as to fully align with Shanghai's modern industrial system.
Earlier that morning, Niu Xiangyu, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department and Director of the Liberal Arts Office, led a research team to visit CIIC Group, conducting in-depth discussions with relevant department heads. The exchanges focused on core topics such as trends in the human resources industry, comprehensive quality evaluation of fresh graduates, and digital talent. Based on this research visit, the university will systematically compile the three lists — enterprise needs, existing challenges, and development suggestions — and integrate them into industry talent research reports, serving as core decision-making evidence for dynamic adjustment of academic disciplines and programs and curriculum reform, thereby empowering the development of new quality productive forces through high-quality industry-education integration.
