From August 22 to 23, the 2026 Low‑Altitude Creative Stars Exchange Event for Youth from Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Communities concluded successfully at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST). Under the theme Gathering in Shanghai for Shared Development, the event integrated multiple formats such as a sci-tech innovation competition, roundtable exchanges, and networking activities, building a quality platform for young people from Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese communities to connect and innovate together. The event encouraged young people from all regions to exchange skills, build consensus, and plan for the future in the new track of the low-altitude economy, attracting more than 300 young participants.
Event Site
The event was rich in content and well organized. It featured several special segments, including the Low-Altitude Innovation and Creativity Competition, the Sky Soccer 3V3 Drone Football Challenge, and the launch ceremony of the Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Youth Sci-Tech Innovation Roundtable, all held at USST. The Shared Dreams by the Huangpu River Youth Networking Carnival was held at the Shanghai landmark, the Oriental Pearl Tower.
The Low-Altitude Creativity Star Innovation Competition set up two tracks: Low-Altitude Enabling Urban Operations and Low-Altitude Integrating into Urban Life, focusing on real application scenarios such as urban governance, public services, cultural tourism and consumption, and community services. Contestants used cutting-edge technologies including AI and the Internet of Things to design diverse applications of the low-altitude economy, producing a batch of works that combined creative warmth with practical value.
Award ceremony
The Sky Soccer 3V3 Drone Football Challenge integrated low-altitude flight technology, intelligent control technology, and team competition concepts. Featuring tech soccer and sky competition, it created an immersive and intelligent aerial competition scenario. The young participants coordinated closely, divided tasks, and precisely controlled the drones. Young people from different regions engaged in intense aerial competition, honed their control skills, exchanged sci-tech innovation experience, deepened mutual understanding, and forged friendships through the contest.
Sky Soccer 3V3 Drone Football Challenge
At the Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Youth Sci-Tech Innovation Roundtable, Zhao Laijun, Dean of the Business School, joined guests including Chau Wing-hang, Deputy Director-General of the Civil Aviation Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Bao Hongxun, Chairman of the BAO DA SAN Foundation of Hong Kong; Jiang Shan, Executive Chairman of the Greater China Association (Hong Kong); Yan Yiping, Director of the Youth Committee of the Shanghai-Macao Economic and Cultural Development Association; Wang Wei, Director of the Youth Committee of the Shanghai Overseas Friendship Association; and Tang Bo, General Manager of Shanghai Low-Altitude Economy Industry Development Co., Ltd., for in-depth discussions on topics such as the development of the low-altitude economy industry, youth sci-tech innovation cooperation, and cross-regional resource integration.
Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Youth Sci-Tech Innovation Roundtable
Wang Lingyu, Secretary of the CPC USST Committee, attended the event and presented certificates of appreciation to the participating organizations. Wang Chen, Deputy Secretary of the CPC USST Committee, stated in his speech that young people from different regions had broken down geographical boundaries and formed cross-disciplinary, cross-regional teams. Their creative ideas not only brought a youth perspective to the development of the low-altitude industry, but also fully demonstrated the youthful strength of Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese youth working hand in hand. He expressed the hope that these young people would take sci-tech innovation as a bond and friendship as a bridge, engage in more exchanges and thinking, and promote cooperation between both sides.
Wang Xiaohan, Vice President of the Shanghai Overseas Friendship Association, said in his speech that he hoped the young participants would take this event as an opportunity to further build friendship, strengthen cultural and ethnic identity, exchange in-depth developments in the frontier fields of scientific and technological innovation. He also encouraged them to further connect China with the world, leverage their strengths, promote the alignment and interaction of regional innovation, facilitate the integrated development of Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
The event was guided by the Shanghai Overseas Friendship Association, co-organized by the Business School of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and the Shanghai Universities Overseas Exchange Association. It aimed to normalize exchange and mutual learning activities among Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese youth, continuously rally the strength of young people at home and abroad, and also guide them to move forward together, actively engage in sci-tech innovation, industrial upgrading, and urban development, so as to contribute wisdom and strength to the high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and the national low-altitude economy industry.
