On Sept. 2nd, the 2019 opening ceremony of the Graduate of Business School was held in the first conference room of the School. 457 students from all over the country gathered. Party secretary Wang Wei, associate dean Zhang Yongqing, deputy party secretary Yao Xiuwen and teacher Ji Ying attended the ceremony, which was officiated by Yao Xiuwen.
At about 13:30 pm, the opening ceremony began with the solemn national anthem.
At the beginning of the ceremony, party secretary Wang Wei, on behalf of all the School’s leaders, teachers and staff, delivered a welcoming speech to the 2019 graduate freshmen. In her speech, she reviewed the history of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, the paper also briefly introduces the achievements and layout of subject construction, the status quo of faculty construction, the development of AACSB international accreditation, and the positive contribution made by the college in promoting the construction of high-level local colleges and universities. Secretary Wang Wei pointed out that the graduate study stage is an important starting stage for young students to engage in academic scientific research and scientific and technological innovation. All new graduate students should be down to earth, inclusive and self-development, we should make full use of the academic resources of the scientific research platform of various disciplines at all levels and put them into academic research and innovative practice.
Then, associate dean Zhang Yongqing introduced the subject distribution and development of the college and the current construction of the first-level subject, and explained the development characteristics of each subject, the Scientific Research Platform and carrier of the college. He pointed out that graduate students should cherish the valuable research platform, based on innovation, actively communicate with their supervisors and strive for higher level and higher quality self-breakthrough and value realization from a higher starting point, in addition, doctoral students should set an example and play a leading role.
Finally, Ji Ying, the tutor’s representative, spoke. She urges the new graduate students here to stand on their own feet and earnestly practice the school motto of “Faithfulness, diligence, love, thinking, learning and ambition” as well as the school’s core values of “responsibility, integration, innovation and excellence”. She said that graduate students are different from undergraduates. Graduate Study is a marathon challenge, facing the dual pressures of study and life. They should learn to plan and self-discipline, and they should pay attention to physical exercise while exploring scientific research, we should earnestly inherit the spirit of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, bravely embark on the Long March of the new era, and strive to be the vanguard of the upper member of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.
After the opening ceremony, the counselors of graduate students, the laboratory and the staff of the educational administration office of Business School have carried out the entrance education on the party construction and ideological and political work of the graduate students, the cultivation of scientific morality, the safety of the use of the campus and the laboratory, the cultivation of graduate students and the work of degree.
