2019 Shanghai Postgraduate Academic Forum on “Systematic Management Theory and Methods for Shanghai’s Future Economic Development” Was Successfully Held in University of Shanghai for Science and Technology

Organized by the Office of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Academic Degrees, in 2019, the Academic Forum on “Systematic Management Theory and Methods for Shanghai’s Future Economic Development” organized by the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and the Business School was successfully held in the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.

On the afternoon of the 22nd, the opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Yongqing, vice dean of Business School. Sheng Chun, deputy secretary of the School’s Party Committee, delivered the opening speech and briefed the participants on the general situation of the university and the development of the discipline. Wang Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Business School, introduced the current development of the school and the preparations for the forum. The seminar was moderated by Professor Ma Liang, head of management science and engineering at the Business School, professor You Jianxin, Professor Ma Weimin and Professor Zheng Jianguo from the Tongji University and the Donghua University respectively gave excellent reports to the graduate students on “Quality and Quality Management Research from the Perspective of Modern Industrial Engineering” , “Modern Management Science Research: Opportunities and challenges” , and “Data Mining Theory and Algorithm Research” .

This academic forum is guided by the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech that “science and technology are increasingly becoming the main forces driving economic and social development, and innovation is the general trend”. The theme is“Systematic Management Theory and Methods for Shanghai’s Future Economic Development”. On the morning of the 23rd, the participants held academic exchanges in five sub-forums, namely information systems and supply chains, social economy and finance, transportation and management, systems science and systems engineering, management science and management engineering, fully reflects “exchange of innovative thinking, broaden academic horizons, stimulate the enthusiasm for innovation the innovative academic atmosphere of graduate students”. The forum was attended by more than 200 graduate students from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Nankai University, Xi’an University of Science and Technology, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Henan University, East China University of Science and Technology, Ningbo University, Shanghai Municipal Party School, and even 14 universities.

On the afternoon of the 23rd, a judging group composed of 15 experts from both inside and outside the university selected 5 first-class, 10 second-class and 15 third-class winners of the forum report through on-the-spot evaluation and collective scoring, professor Zheng Jianguo, Professor Zhang Yongqing, Professor Ma Liang and associate professor Zhang Lin presented awards to the authors of the prize-winning papers.

This academic forum for graduate students provides a high starting point, deep-level, large-scale, multi-field academic exchange platform, which further broadens the academic horizons of graduate students and stimulates their academic enthusiasm, it promotes the cultivation of innovation ability of postgraduates.
