From May 30 to June 3, the final of the 2019 National College Business Elite Challenge was successfully held at Nanjing International Exhibition Center. Our School sent four teams with excellent results in the Shanghai competition to participate in the national finals. With the strong support of the school’s academic affairs office and various departments of the college, the teachers and students worked hard to prepare for the battle. After multiple stages of competition, they finally won a special prize, three first prizes and the best organization award. The school’s best record in history since it first participated in this event.
This competition is co-sponsored by the Commercial Industry Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Commercial Industry Chamber of the China Chamber of International Commerce and the China Conference and Exhibition Economic Research Association. It is the deepest school-enterprise cooperation in the field of international trade education in China and the most extensive international exchanges. The platform is the largest and highest-level international professional live event event. This time, as one of the core sections of the “China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in 2019, a key project to promote the development of small and medium-sized enterprises-a special event for brand building of 100 universities to serve 100 small and medium-sized enterprises and the 2019 China International Economic and Trade Education Innovation Practice Activity Week”, it is also more than 2,000 contestants and tutors from 140 colleges and universities in 22 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities including Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Jiangsu, etc. have gathered in Nanjing. The participating teams from various colleges and universities participated in the competition in the name of enterprises, providing enterprises with brand marketing plans and overseas promotion plans. The exhibits are rich and diverse, including consumer goods, food, electronic products and handicrafts. The competition conducted an all-round comprehensive inspection of the participating students’ practical ability in foreign trade exhibitions through five major links including competition content exhibition plan, booth poster design and merchandise display, new product launch conference, business matching trade negotiation and post-show summary report.
In this competition, the four teams sent by our school are mainly students from the Department of International Economics and Trade, and students from the School of Publishing, Printing and Art Design, the School of Environment and Architecture, and the School of Foreign Languages participated. From the event presentation and mobilization at the end of 2018, the formation of students, the search for products and manufacturers, the School selection in early April 2019, the Shanghai competition at the end of April to the finals at the end of May, it lasted 6 months. Students and their instructors used their spare time, carefully prepare for the game. Based on their keen market insight, the participating students of our school chose Sony electronic paper, VR glasses, 360-degree anti-shake sports camera and neck-protecting massager to compete. The students’ innovative thinking, fluent English communication skills, solid business professional basic skills, excellent comprehensive quality and teamwork spirit demonstrated in the competition left a deep impression on the judges, enterprises and business people and won unanimous praise. This time, the students of our school have made another brilliant achievement. The excellent results fully reflect the ability and level of our school’s international economics and trade major in innovation training, practical teaching and other aspects. Through such a professional competition, the participating students not only gain valuable practical experience, but also gain insights on a broad platform, cultivate business quality, and greatly promote the improvement of students’ comprehensive ability.
In this event, in order to build a network system for collaborative research on international economic and trade rules and standards, our school participated in the “International Economic and Trade Rules and Standards Research” seminar and was awarded the first of “International Economic and Trade Rules and Standards Research Bases.”
During the competition, the directors of the International Trade Department, Mr. Luo Fang, Mr. Tang Qiao and Mr. Wei Wendong gave full guidance on the spot. Professor Zhang Zheng, deputy dean of the college; Wang Yonglian, secretary of the Party branch of the International Trade Department; Han Bing, deputy director of the International Trade Department; and Shu Yiming from the Academic Affairs Office made a special trip to Nanjing to guide the events.
