The 5th “Huxing Cup” E-commerce Enterprise Research Contest was Successfully Held

On the afternoon of May 30th, the award ceremony of the 5th “Huxing Cup” E-commerce Enterprise Research Contest of our school was held in the second meeting room of the School, and the competition came to a successful conclusion. Gu Jiahe, director of the Expert Committee of the Shanghai Online Shopping Association; Yang Jianzheng, chairman of the Hong Kong Xingfan Education Foundation, and relevant persons in charge of the school’s graduate work department, the Education Development Foundation Office, the E-Commerce Development Research Institute and the School attended the award ceremony. The instructors and participating student representatives participated together.

 

The award ceremony kicked off with a short review video of the competition. Zhang Yongqing, Dean of the School’s E-Commerce Development Research Institute, introduced the situation of the competition. Preparations for this competition began in October 2018, attracting a total of 239 students from 59 teams from academies of Optoelectronics, Management, Environmental Construction, and Printing Arts. Training, research, report writing, preliminary and final stages, the schedule was up to 8 months.

Wang Rui, deputy director of the Alumni Work Liaison Office and deputy director of the Office of Education Development Foundation, announced the list of awards. After fierce competition, the “Researchers Alliance” team won the special prize, the “Fuji Team” and the “Beyond Team” two teams won the first prize, and the 4 teams “Red Carp and Green Carp” won the second prize. Eight teams including the “Southern Bowan Team” won the third prize, and two teachers, Chen Qingjie and Ni Jing, won the title of excellent instructor. The guests and leaders who attended the ceremony presented certificates of honor to the outstanding instructors and winning teams. Xie Simei, the captain of the “Investigator Alliance” and a postgraduate student with a master’s degree in economics in 2018, gave her speech. She shared her experience and feelings in the competition on “teamwork, field investigation and research report writing”. She thanked the competition for providing good the learning platform not only strengthens theoretical learning, but also enhances practical ability, and has a deeper understanding of the development of e-commerce.

Wang Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, also gave a speech. She fully affirmed the significance of the competition in school education, teaching and talent training, and pointed out: “The country attaches great importance to the training of talents in schools. Strive to train students to become high-quality management talents needed by the society and enterprises. Our goal of running a school. In the process of training high-quality schools and high-level talents, student-based learning is very important. We hope that students will not only learn in the classroom, but also go out of the classroom and enter the society to learn from textbooks. Connect with reality, digest and absorb in practice, and repeat classroom learning through practice.”

 

Gu Jiahe, director of the Expert Committee of the Shanghai Online Shopping Association and former deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, spoke highly of the competition: “The investigated cases have materials and opinions, let the facts speak, and let the data speak; relatively standardized, simple language, clear opinions, and more Dimensional analysis puts forward thoughts and suggestions for enterprise improvement; the cases involve different types of enterprises and reflect the problems of Shanghai e-commerce enterprises from different aspects.” I hope that the students can make their own research suggestions bolder in the future. He also introduced to the students the changes in the e-commerce industry in recent years. “The business activities of China’s e-commerce companies have gone from being unreliable to operating in accordance with the law; the digital upgrade of e-commerce has shifted from big data, cloud computing to artificial intelligence application; E-commerce has shifted from vigorous development to steady growth, and many companies are facing challenges.”

The “Huxing Cup” E-commerce Enterprise Research Contest is co-sponsored by the Education Development Foundation Office, the Graduate Work Department, Business School and the E-commerce Development Research Institute, and is established by the Hong Kong Xingfan Education Foundation in the Education Development Foundation, our school Special funding from the “Huxing Education Fund”. Yang Jianzheng, chairman of the Hong Kong Xingfan Education Foundation, expressed his hope that the atmosphere of investigation and research will be on the campus of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. He hopes that the habit of investigation and research will accompany students throughout their lives, and that investigation and research activities can improve students’ ability to analyze and solve problems.
