Business School held a symposium on undergraduate education thoughts

In order to thoroughly carry out the spirit of the National Education Conference and the spirit of the New Era National Undergraduate Education Work Conference of the Ministry of Education, and to further promote the discussion of undergraduate education thoughts, a symposium on undergraduate education thoughts was held in the afternoon of April 11. Professor Qingnian XIONG of Fudan University was invited to give a report on the theme of “Opportunities and Challenges of Undergraduate Education Reform”. Professor XIONG is the director of the Institute of Higher Education of Fudan University and the executive deputy editor of “Fudan Education Forum”. He is also a director of the Chinese Higher Education Association and the deputy secretary-general of the Shanghai Higher Education Association.

The symposium was presided over by Zheng ZHANG, the vice dean of Business School. The leaders and all faculty of the school attended the symposium. Professor XIONG elaborated on the severe challenges faced by undergraduate education reform in the new era from five aspects, such as the establishment of a moral character, diverse needs, approaching singularities, classroom reform and market demands. Professor XIONG pointed out that we should grasp the precious opportunities of undergraduate education reform in the new era, and should start from the perspectives of raising consciousness, updating education concepts, studying students’ situation, technology promoting innovation to deal with the opportunities and challenges of undergraduate education reform.

This symposium further promoted the in-depth discussion of Business School’s undergraduate education, and laid a good foundation for the school to find a breakthrough in undergraduate teaching reform, innovate the talent training model, and improve the quality of talent training.
