On the afternoon of March 14th, the “Management Science and Engineering” Plateau Discipline and the Hyper-Network Research Center jointly held an academic lecture, in the meeting room 506 of Business School. The topic of the lecture is “The Nonlinear influence and synergy effect of built environment on automobile travel”. The lecture was co-chaired by Professor Chunming YE, also the deputy dean of Business School, and Professor Hongcheng GAN, also the deputy director of the Hyper-Network Research Center.
The lecturer is Jason Cao, the editor-in-chief of SCI journal Transportation Research Part D. He is also an international authoritative expert and professor at the School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. Professor Cao’s research interests include the interaction between land use and transportation, the impact of telecommunications technology on traffic behavior, and satisfaction. He has published more than 80 SCI/SSCI papers, and the Google Academic H Index is 35. He is currently the editor-in-chief of SCI journals and the editorial board member of four international journals.
Professor Cao introduced his work on a recently published paper in a leading journal, which studied the threshold effect of built environment factors on car travel and the synergistic effects of built environment factors and transportation policies. At the same time, he summarized some of his experience in international peer-reviewed paper abstracts, literature reviews and plagiarism from the perspective of editors, reviewers, and authors.
The lecture attracted more than 30 teachers and students from transportation, management, systems, and regional economics. Teachers and students present had a heated discussion with Professor Cao. Professor Cao gave patient answers to questions about topic selection, literature review, paper writing, and research methods that graduate students were concerned about. Professor Cao was deeply impressed by school’s rich history and interdisciplinary atmosphere, and hoped that the two sides would enhance exchanges in the future.
The lecture broadened the international vision and academic thinking of teachers and students, and strengthened the exchanges between Business School and top international universities.
