On December 2th of 2020, the Department of Finance held an education lecture on the theme of “career choices, clean jobs and compliance education seminars for financial practitioners” in the first conference room at the Business School. All the students of finance major in Grade 2018 participated in the lecture. This lecture invited Wu Yinyue, the Investment Manager of Sales Department, Luo Xianqiang, the Wealth Director and Huang Yan, Executive General Manager of Investment Banking from Huarong Securities Co., Ltd. The lecture was hosted by Zhang Qinglong,Dean Principle of the Department of Finance.
First, Manager Wu analyzed characteristics of moral hazard of financial practitioners from four aspects: Instinct, concealment, long-term and suddenness. She used some specific cases to analyze the main performance of moral hazard, which was lack of fairness in financial transactions; dereliction of duty of financial jobholders, dereliction of duty; lack of integrity and corruption of financial jobholders and so on. In the end, according to the problems on how to prevent the moral hazard on the financial jobholders, she thought that every financial jobholders should enhance their moral cognition, cultivate moral emotion, firm moral belief and expand moral practice.
And then, Manager Huang made a speech on the development of financial market and the choices on financial jobs. He talked about the emergence and development of China’s capital market from the emergence and development of domestic and foreign investment banks and the supervisory system of investment banks, and from the size, market value, P/E ratio and other aspects of the capital market development to give a comparative analysis between China and the United States. From the perspective of historical development, he analyzed the characteristics of leading companies and high-quality companies with sustained and good performance in the stock market at home and abroad. Under the different era background, it might occur different leading companies. We should learn how to analyze and grasp the theme of the times. He also analyzed the 14th five-year period of China’s multi-level capital market reform issues. He pointed that during the period of the 14th five-year, facing the 4th industrial revolution, China could seize the opportunity to catch up with the West in science and technology. The science and technology innovation board was set up mainly for new technology enterprises and provided strong support for the steady and rapid development of science and technology in China. Finally, regarding the Career Development and choice suggestions, he believed that China’s capital market still has a lot of room for development in the future, as well as a lot of opportunities. Students are welcome to join the work in this field, and he suggested that students should know themselves and be clear about their abilities. He reminded students to identify themselves, set a clear plan for future career choice, pay attention to accumulation and enhance core competitiveness.
In the interactive session, students actively asked questions from the aspects of employment direction, job pressure, interview difficulty, future choice, certificate recognition, etc. to the experts from Huarong Securities Co., Ltd. and received patient, detailed and practical solution. Finance students benefited greatly from this lecture. They gained a better understanding of the securities and finance industry and a clearer understanding of their future career plans.
