The 2020 Shanghai University Students Final of 'Traffic Innovation Competition' was successfully held in our school

On the afternoon of November 21, organized by the Shanghai Institute of Transportation Engineering and hosted by the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, the final of the 2020 Shanghai University Student Transportation Innovation Competition was successfully held in the second conference room of the school of business in USST. The competition provides a stage for the participating teachers and students to display their styles, features, and talents, promote friendship and realize their dreams, with the aim of cultivating a new generation of innovative traffic forces and improve the traffic innovation ability and team cooperation consciousness of university students in Shanghai through the exchange of the latest innovative academic achievements in traffic research, and then serve for the strategy of “promote our state through traffic” and “traffic integration in Yangtze River Delta” .

The opening ceremony of the final competition was officiated by Associate Professor Liu Weiwei, deputy director of the department of transportation systems engineering of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, On the ceremony, a speech is delivered by Professor Zhao Laijun, Dean of business school of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, it first shows a warmly welcome to the teachers and students from the universities in Shanghai and then gave a brief introduction of the development of systems engineering of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology in recent years, and encourages all the students participating in the competition to take the opportunity of this competition to learn from their peer colleges, determine to innovate, not afraid of challenges and finally wished this competition a complete success. Associate Professor Luo Xiao, School of traffic and Transportation Engineering of Tongji University, Associate Research Fellow Zhang Yi, School of marine and architecture engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, associate professor Zheng Jian, school of traffic and transportation of Shanghai Maritime University, and Associate Professor Gan Hongcheng and Associate Professor Yan Ling, School of Business of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, attended the final.

The theme of this competition is “Data Interconnection enables integrated transportation system development”, it has attracted the participation of teachers and students from all Shanghai universities which involve the department of industrial engineering, including the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Tongji University, the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, the Shanghai Maritime University and the Shanghai University of Engineering Sciences. There are a total of nearly 50 teams have entered the competition. After the preliminary selection, there are 12 teams reach into finals. After the fierce final on-the-spot defense, according to the judges’ comprehensive score, the final competition rewards the 2 teams of the first prize, 4 teams of Second Prize, 6 teams of Third Prize. Among them, the first prize belongs to the students led by Liu Jiaqi of Tongji University for “automatic lane detection and trajectory planning in complex road environment”, and the other is gained by Shanghai Maritime University’s project led by Qi tingting for “smart eye” -- a ship’s intelligent visual perception system, the rest of the winners are listed in the annex.

At the end of the competition, Professor Gan Hongcheng of the school of business of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology made a brilliant comment on the status of the competition and gave a high degree of approval to the level of the entries, the winning teams will then be presented with certificates and trophies by the judges and experts. In the end, associate professor Liu Weiwei, the host, declared the 2020 Shanghai University Student Transportation Innovation Competition a successful conclusion.
