The Department of System Science held an employment promotion meeting for the undergraduates in the Meeting Room 1010, Block A of Economy & Management Building on the afternoon of November 1. All department faculties attended the meeting which was hosted by Professor GU Changgui, director of the department.

There was an active discussion among faculties about discussed how to improve the quality and probability of employment of the undergraduate students enrolled in the department. Consensus was reached that students' employment requires the whole-process cultivation throughout their period as a university student. For freshmen, the department, class advisers and undergraduate supervisors should work together to guide students in career planning, selection of discipline and clarification of post-graduation direction (continue higher education (preparing graduate entrance examination, studying abroad) or enter job market.

For sophomores and juniors, for the students who want to further their education, we should focus on improving their learning and academic abilities, strengthening their studies of core courses, and encouraging them to work with their supervisors to publish papers; For the students who would like to find jobs, we should focus on improving their practical skills, strengthening their studies of practical courses and urging them to master the use of various software. If possible, they can participate in the horizontal projects of their supervisors and take internships provided by companies. For seniors, for the students who would like to further their studies, the supervisors should guide the students to choose the proper target universities and majors on the basis of their academic capacities; For students who would like to get employed, the supervisors should do try their best to promote the students. In addition, it has been agreed that practical courses could be jointly offered by the university and enterprises.
