The Department of Information Management and Information Systems and Baidu discussed the training of innovative talents in artificial intelligence on the afternoon Oct 22 2021, in Conference Room 610 of USST-BS. The event was organized by Dr. FAN Chongjun and Dr. LIU Yong and presided by Dr. LIU Yong. Dr. ZHAO Bin, the operation director of Baidu PaddlePaddle Education Ecology College, Mr. CHAI Le, a senior solution engineer at Baidu, faculty representatives Dr. LIU Chen, Dr. ZHOU Yiwei, Dr. ZHU Xiaodong, Dr. LIU Lei, Dr. LU Zhi, Dr. CHEN Chen and Dr. YAO Danli, and representatives of undergraduate, master and doctoral postgraduate majoring in artificial intelligence attended the meeting.
Dr. LIU Yong first introduced the construction of artificial intelligence majors. USST is the second batch of setting up the major of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for undergraduate. The Department of Information Management and Information Systems joined hands with the best teachers in the university to build the major. It aims to cultivate high-end talents with solid AI technology foundation, core feature of AI algorithm and knowledge of economics and management. In addition to the undergraduate education, several master's programs, doctoral programs and postdoctoral station have also launched research on the AI theory and method, so that an integrated training system of AI talents for undergraduate and postgraduate come into being.
In the second session of agenda, Dr. ZHAO Bin, the head of the head of Baidu PaddlePaddle Education Ecology University, and Mr. Chai Le, the senior solution engineer of Baidu, shared two protocols Cultivating Artificial Intelligence Innovation Talents through Industry-Education Integration and Baidu AI School-Enterprise Cooperation Solutions respectively.
As of today, Baidu PaddlePaddle has already engaged 3.7 million developers and served around 140,000 enterprises and institutes covering dozens of industries such as finance, transportation, logistics, etc. and created more than 425,000 models based on the PaddlePaddle platform. Baidu AI school-enterprise cooperation solutions mainly include: providing arithmetic capacity, algorithm component support, one-stop teaching + practical training platform environment, joint certification of domestic deep learning engineers in cooperation with the Linux Foundation Open Source Software Academy, enterprise teachers, industrial teaching cases and data sets, etc. Baidu innovation practice platform solutions mainly include: data center for data collection, labeling, cleaning, processing and other one-stop data services, user-oriented development center for both machine learning and deep learning environment, and one-stop AI model building service function set and centralized management of AI assets, etc.
In the end, the two sides had an in-depth discussion about the construction of artificial intelligence major. A consensus has been reached on the construction of key subjects such as machine learning, intelligent computing and natural language processing; The cooperation in teacher training and student internship will be initiated; AI laboratory construction on hardware and software will be carried out jointly; AI+Management will be developed into an example of school-enterprise cooperation. The next stage will focus on signing the framework agreement on school-enterprise cooperation.
