At the meeting, Professor GE Yuhui pointed out that the international cooperation in the form of joint education programs is of great significance to both sides. Under the circumstances that COVID-19 pandemic persists, it comes to be a undeniable trend that the teaching mode of online-offline-combination was adopted to cultivate the excellent students with an international perspective to replace the old education approaches. At the same time, by strengthening the education cooperation with oversea universities, we can further improve the internationalization of the university.

Director Thomas Torres Gil affirmed the current achievement of cooperation with BS-USST and expected more success. He pointed out that, for the Sino-US cooperation, it is necessary to clarify the teaching tasks on either side. The internationally advanced courses should be introduced into China to meet the local need. The programs should consider the specific situation in China, learn from other Chinese Universities launching Sino-Overseas programs and their successful experiences. With that we can innovate our education system. Annie Liu pointed out that international joint degree programs need to fully understand the advantages of teaching modes of both US and China, vigorously promote the integration of ideologies and experiences of diverse education methods, and promote the development of education and teaching. At the same time, we should build the operation mechanism underlying the joint degree programs to ensure their sustainability.

YANG Yihan said that to set up a Sino-Overseas  joint program, we should strictly implement the spirit of “Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Running Joint Degree Programs in China” and “Implementation Measures for the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Running Joint Degree Programs in China”. Following that, we should negotiate a complete and detailed agreement on the issues of teaching staff, student safety, tuition fees and so on in consideration of facts and statistics of the school. At the same time, he gave detailed suggestions to ensure the safety of students when staying in China or abroad in the time of COVID-19 pandemic.

At the end of the meeting, Philips. Tou, Director of Higher Education of California Department of Education said that we should consider the roadmap of our joint degree programs in the perspective of national strategies and changing international pattern in this new era. We also rethink the new focus of international cooperation and development, actively promote cooperation in running programs, concentrate multiple high-quality resources, actively improve the cooperation scheme and implement it as soon as possible. These strives will promote talent training and construction by leaps and bounds.
