The Business School Held the 41st “Let's Brainstorm” Event

On May 2, 2022, the 41st event of “Let's Brainstorm” series was successfully held via Tencent Conference at 18:00. A total of 59 postgraduates from Applied Economics, Statistics, Regional Economics, National Economics, Accounting, Finance, International Business, Business Management, Tourism Management, Transportation Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration and System Science participated in the event.

The theme of this event is Talking about New Business Models, Observing New Market Energy. Along with the booming development of internet information technology, new business models are gradually exhibiting their advantages and becoming one of the important ways for new enterprises to grow rapidly. In the event, students discussed what is the new business model, opportunities and challenges under the new business model and how to build a new business model like 'community business circle'.

In the first session, students discussed what is the new business model, and Li Bei, a student of Class 2021 majoring in System Science, expressed her opinion on new business model is a new way of company operation, pointing out that there are three kinds of new business models, namely, the new business model formed by Internet+, the new business model of feeling in the terminal and service in the cloud and the new business model of providing one-stop service and personalized service. Ms. Pu Yixuan, another student of 2021 majoring in Public Administration, shared her understanding of the new model of sharing economy combined with her major. She believed that the 'sharing economy' can revitalize the unused resources in the market, increase the utilization rate of goods in the whole society, and realize the sharing of resources.

In the second session, students brainstormed on opportunities and challenges in the new business model, and Tang Kexin, a student of 2021 majoring in Business Administration, thought that in the post-epidemic era, the new business model needed to find a suitable position in the broad market; enterprises should correctly and objectively analyze their comprehensive strength and change their business thinking to stand firmly in the changing market. Ms. Dai Yuyi, a student of 2021 majoring in applied economics, believed that in the face of the new market characteristics, enterprises needed to reconstruct or optimize the consumer-centered marketing model. Yang Hongye, a System Science major in Class of 2021, believed that the biggest challenge of the new business model is to improve the original innovation capability of core and key technologies. 

In the new situation, the business model of community business circle may bring new economic growth, which will solve the problem of the last mile between business and community consumers. In the third session, students discussed community business district together, and Yan Huixian, a student of Industrial Engineering and Management of 2021, thought that community business district is formed by serving community residents, meeting their basic consumption and quality consumption in daily life, and gathering multiple businesses. Luo Yiling, majoring in System Science, Class 2021, further pointed out that community shopping areas should give full play to the flexibility of mobile commercial retail facilities such as self-service vending machines and vegetable drive-throughs, which can be a useful supplement to community commerce. System Science student Shi Ye introduced the current status of the construction and the effectiveness of the pilot operation of the smart food court under digital empowerment.

The event, filled with active discussions, lasted nearly one and a half hours. Through such activity, students acquired a deeper understanding of the new business model. The new business model can stimulate new growth of business while promoting the integration of online and offline consumption, which is of great significance to construct the “dual circulation development model. The business is a fast-changing community. Only by innovation can enterprises survive and develop. They need to keep pace with the times, take the initiative to upgrade business models, and firmly grasp market opportunities and trends in their own industry.
