On the afternoon of September 3rd, the Professional Degree Education Center of Business School held the opening ceremony for Master students enrolled in 2023. Sheng Chun, deputy secretary of USST Party Committee and vice president of USST, Cui Guomin, executive deputy dean of Graduate School, Zhao Laijun, dean of Business School and managing director of the Professional Degree Education Center, Ma Jingbo, secretary of Business School Party Committee, Zhang Zheng, deputy dean of Business School and deputy director of the Professional Degree Education Center, He Jianjia, deputy dean of Business School, Pu Yingying, deputy secretary of Business School Party Committee, as well as project directors, faculty representatives, and 574 new students, gathered together to open a new chapter in USST's learning life. Before the ceremony, the new students obtained and wore the school emblems, signifying that they officially became USSTers. An MBA freshman expressed his pride, I am very happy to be a part of USSTBS. I will embrace the values of the university’s motto ‘honesty, integrity, diligence, benevolence; learning, reflection, vision, aspiration’, make the most of my time, and move into the future with courage.

Zhao Laijun reviewed the historical achievements of the Business School since its establishment and shared his vision for its future development. He gave three suggestions to students to achieve success. Firstly, he advised them to create a blueprint for their lives, setting clear goals during their learning stage to achieve exceptional results. Secondly, he urged students to be diligent and eager to learn, striving for excellence to achieve self-transcendence through their two years of learning and accumulation. Lastly, he emphasized the importance of working together for win-win cooperation, highlighting how altruism is the cornerstone of business and how collaboration can bring more opportunities.

In order to encourage outstanding students to apply for professional degree programs at USSTBS, to help students study diligently, develop comprehensively during their time in school, and to cultivate management elites with a sense of social responsibility, Business School has established a series of scholarships, including the Freshman Sincerity Scholarship, Alumni Scholarship, Joint Examination Performance Scholarship, and General performance Scholarship. This year, many impressive students were awarded scholarships. Ma Jingbo read out the 2023 Freshman Scholarship Winners, and guests of honor on the podium presented awards to the awardees. In closing, USSTBS encouraged all students to have lofty aspirations and to strive to be role models for young people, responding to the call of the times and daring to be the vanguard of a strong country.

Liu Weiwei, the faculty representative of Business School, delivered a speech. He began by using an AI-generated speech to introduce the topic - Becoming the Irreplaceable Yourself. Liu Weiwei pointed out that even in the era of AI, human initiative and creativity still have unique advantages. He encouraged students to embrace the AI era while also cherishing their emotions, intuition, creativity, and critical thinking skills, and then promoting economic management research to enter into a new stage.

As freshmen at USST, many students are full of curiosity about their future life and studies. Ma Wenting, a finance student enrolled in 2022, shared her experience and feelings. She said that it’s lucky to be part of the USST, and she hopes that we will cherish the time we spend with our teachers and classmates, which will become a precious memory along the way. USSTBS offers a wealth of learning resources including a vast collection of books, advanced teaching equipment, and a variety of events such as lectures and enterprise visits organized by the Center. With such diverse forms of learning materials available, we have the potential to develop in many ways.

Zhao Jiangqi, 2023 MBA freshman representative, compared the MBA program to a gas station for his personal growth and development. In this gas station, we could meet many like-minded people who share our goals and aspirations, making our journey towards the future more fulfilling and smoother. Zhao is determined to overcome any challenges he faces, constantly exploring and innovating to unlock his full potential.

Sheng Chun introduced the glorious history of the USST in his speech. Over the past century, USST has nurtured a large number of patriotic youths, aspirants, academic elites, engineering experts, and social leaders. The university has cultivated over 100,000 outstanding talents for the country and society. He said that students are young and in their best times. They are not only the witnesses of China's speed, but also witnesses and participants in achieving the second centenary goal.
