On September 27, Hujiang Economic Management Forum Series (71st) was successfully held in the Lecture Hall of the First Conference Room of the School of Management. Dr. Mingjie Feng gave an academic report entitled Exploring the Impact of Traffic Law Enforcement and Violations on Road Safety under the Endogenous InterrelationsThe report was chaired by Dr. Chenqiang Zhu.  Dr. Weiwei Liu, director of the Department of Transportation Systems Engineering, Dr. Wu Jingxian, and some postgraduate students attended the report.

At the forum, Dr. Feng introduced the development status, safety status and management status of China's freeways, and pointed out the endogenous relationship and complex interactions between traffic law enforcement, traffic violations and traffic crashes. In response to this problem, Dr. Feng demonstrated how to utilize multivariate time series analysis techniques including structural vector autoregressive models, Granger causality tests, and BEKK-GARCH models to reveal the contemporaneous relationships, dynamic interactions and unobserved potential effects among traffic law enforcement, violations, and crashes. Finally, Dr. Feng looked further into the application prospects of emerging technologies such as machine learning and deep learning in this field.

At the end of the forum, teachers and students communicated with Dr. Feng on the content of the report. Dr. Liu and Dr. Wu shared their comments on the research content and provided valuable suggestions on future research.
