On January 4, David Rios Insua, member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences and AXA-ICMAT Chair in Adversarial Risk Analysis, was appointed as a part-time professor at USST. President of USST Ding Xiaodong, vice president Cai Yonglian, director of Human Resources Office Zhu Jianmin, dean of Business School Zhao Laijun, deputy director of International Affairs Office Xu Jingwei, and representatives of the faculty team of the Business School attended the appointment ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Cai Yonglian.
Ding Xiaodong introduced the USST's history, scientific research, international exchanges, etc. On behalf of the university, he expressed his warm welcome to Prof. David Rios Insua, who is a renowned expert in the field of management science, and has made remarkable scientific research contributions, particularly in fostering scientific and technological exchanges as well as talent cultivation between China and Europe. Ding believed that in the future, cooperation with the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (ICMAT) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), where Prof. David Rios Insua works, will yield fruitful results in scientific research and talent cultivation.

Zhao Laijun, on behalf of the Business School, warmly welcomed David Rios Insua for his participation in USSTBS. In March, Prof. Insua was appointed as a member of the Strategic Development Advisory Committee of USSTBS. The committee acts as a think tank and brain trust to promote the high-quality development of the Business School. Prof. Insua has made valuable suggestions in the school’s development planning, discipline construction and scientific research. Zhao hoped that in the future, Prof. Insua would give us further guidance in the areas of postgraduate training, young teachers’ development, discipline and major construction, international scientific research platforms building, etc.

David Rios Insua is Research Professor at ICMAT and member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences. He is the AXA-ICMAT Chair in Adversarial Risk Analysis. Besides, he is Professor of Statistics and Operations Research at the Complutense University. He has been lecturer and researcher at the Universities of Duke, Purdue, Aalto, Paris Dauphine, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Rey Juan Carlos University, Leeds, etc. He has received various international awards, including Second Prize OR for Development Award (INFORS), Best Publication Award Decision Analysis Society (INFORMS), FEI Innovative Researcher Award, DeGroot ISBA Award.
