On April 9th, the Hujiang Economics and Management Forum Series (96th Session) was successfully held at the Lecture Hall on the fourth floor of Building A of the Business School. The event featured a scholarly presentation entitled “Will the presence of ‘fashion knockoffs’ benefit the original-designer-label product supply chain?” , which delivered by Yingjia Wang, a lecturer of the Department of Industrial Engineering.

The lecturer firstly introduced the research background and motivation, followed by the definitions of copycat and fashion knockoff. Then, combing the analytical modeling method with open-ended interview, she broadened the basic model to explore the impacts of fashion knockoffs on the original-designer-label (ODL) product supply chain and its agents, and revealed the governing factors of ODL product seller’s risk attitude and supply chain structure therein. For robustness checking, she further introduced two extended models.

After that, the lecturer summarized the major findings and proposed managerial implications for the fashion industrialists. Finally, the lecturer Yannan Zhou from the Department of Public Administration offered insightful commentary on this lecture. The event concluded with an engaging discussion among the participants, which could foster a deeper understanding of the lecture’s content. This event not only provided a platform for academic exchanges between teachers and students, but also contributed new ideas to the research in the field of fashion knockoffs and brand management.
