Dean Zhao Laijun Led Delegation to Attend the 2024 AACSB Asia Pacific Accreditation Conference and Visited the Universiti Malaysia Sabah

From June 4 to 11, Dean Zhao Laijun of the Business School led a delegation to attend the 2024 AACSB Asia Pacific Accreditation Conference and visited the Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The delegation included Liu Weiwei, the dean’s assistant for Internationalization, Wang Yaopeng, a faculty member from the Department of Finance, and Xie Wei, a member of the Internationalization Office.

The 2024 Asia Pacific Accreditation Conference was held from June 5 to 7 in Bali, Indonesia. Over 300 institutional representatives from 21 countries and regions in Asia Pacific and other regions of the world attended the conference. The conference focused on leadership in an uncertain future, technical standards of accreditation, the synergy between international and domestic standards, and the social impact of new technologies and AI. Various seminars, roundtable forums, and exchange activities were held. The delegation from the Business School engaged with global peers to discuss the latest trends and challenges in business education and share practical experiences in business education.

During the conference, Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President, Chief Membership Officer, and Managing Director of Asia Pacific at AACSB, along with Stephanie Bryant, Executive Vice President, Chief Accreditation Officer, and Executive Director of AACSB Americas, presented certificates to institutions that passed initial accreditation and re-accreditation in 2023. Zhao Laijun received the AACSB accreditation extension certificate on behalf of the USST Business School. Achieving the AACSB re-accreditation for the new five-year marks another significant milestone in the School’s internationalization process.

Visit to the Universiti Malaysia Sabah

From June 9 to 10, the delegation visited the Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The USSTBS delegation was warmly received by Mohd Rahimie Abd Karim, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, and Datu Razali Bin Datu Eranza, International Mobility Coordinator. Datu Razali Bin Datu Eranza visited USST on March 26, 2024, laying the foundation for cooperation between the two institutions. During this return visit, both parties conducted in-depth discussions on cooperation models.

During the visit, our university and the Universiti Malaysia Sabah signed a memorandum of understanding. Both parties will cooperate in areas such as strengthening faculty and student exchanges, jointly conducting research and educational projects, and organizing student course activities. This marks a substantial step forward in collaborative education and academic exchange between the two institutions.

The delegation also toured the campus of the Universiti Malaysia Sabah, engaging in detailed discussions on its international programs, short-term programs, faculty teams, and student training activities.

Through this visit, the delegation not only gained insights into advanced international business education concepts and innovative practices but also discussed the latest trends and challenges in business education. Additionally, the visit further expanded cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road initiative, deepened mutual understanding and friendship, and laid a solid foundation for future international cooperation.
