The June 2024 is the 23rd national Safety Production Month. In order to enhance the awareness and level of safety production management, on June 18, the PetroChina Shanghai Branch, in collaboration with the School of Intelligent Emergency Management (SIEM) of USST and the USSTBS EDP center, held a special training on safety production for its leadership team. Professor Zhao Laijun, dean of the USSTBS and executive dean of the SIEM of USST, analyzed how to improve safety production governance from a systematic perspective and delivered a special training session on Solving the problems of safety production with the key of ‘system’.
Prof. Zhao Laijun emphasized that Xi Jinping Thought is a crucial ideology and theoretical guideline for our work in safety production, emergency management and disaster prevention. General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions on safety production, system engineering, system thinking, and system concept”, are essential guiding thoughts and theoretical methods for reform and development in the fields of safety production and emergency management as well as for improving urban safety work. He led everyone to deeply understand the concepts of system, complex system, systems engineering, and systems science by starting from General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on safety production since the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, as well as his key expositions on systems engineering, systemic nature, systems thinking, and systemic concepts. By analyzing typical cases from the perspective of complex systems such as the tailings dam collapse, Prof. Zhao Laijun depicted the physical mechanisms that caused these disasters and detailed the causes of chemical accidents in China. He also put forward the methods and approaches to enhance safety production governance from the perspective of system resilience.
This training session further strengthened the safety production awareness of the leadership team at PetroChina Shanghai Branch, enhancing their emergency management and safety production management capabilities. The participants expressed that through this training, they gained a systematic and deeper understanding of safety production, and they will effectively apply what they have learned in their future work to improve the company's safety production level.
