On the morning of 26th September, Professor Yang Xiaoguang was appointed as the honorary dean and distinguished professor of USST Smart Urban Mobility Institute. Prof. Yang is a senior expert in the field of transportation engineering in China, who also served as deputy director of the Transportation Teaching Committee and director of the Transportation Engineering Sub-Teaching Committee under the Ministry of Education.Sheng Chun, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice president of USST, as well as representatives from USSTBS, including Zhao Laijun, dean, Zhao Jing, vice dean, Han Yin, academic leader of the Transportation Engineering discipline, Liu Weiwei, director of the Department of Transportation System Engineering, related faculty and students, attended the appointment ceremony. The meeting was presided over by Zhao Jing.
Sheng Chun expressed his warm welcome to Yang Xiaoguang and introduced the history, strengths and characteristics of the Transportation Engineering discipline of USST, as well as the major achievements in recent years and the development of USST Smart Urban Mobility Institute. He said that Professor Yang Xiaoguang has been concerned about the growth and development of the discipline of Transportation Engineering in our university for many years, and he hoped that Professor Yang Xiaoguang would lead the discipline to make more progress, and further expand the influence of the discipline and the university in the industry.

Yang Xiaoguang expressed his gratitudefor being appointed as the honorary dean and distinguished professor of Smart Urban Mobility Institute. He emphasized that he would do his best to promote the sustainable and high-quality development of the Transportation Engineering discipline at USST. He also provided guidance on the transportation discipline development in terms of its talent training mode, faculty construction, and other aspects.
Subsequently, Yang Xiaoguang delivered an academic lecture entitled Sustainable and Healthy Development of the Modern City and New Quality Productive Forces of Transportation, which focused on the difficulties and opportunities facing the development of transport system in the context of automotive change, and stressed the close connection between the transportation discipline and the city and society. After the lecture, Yang Xiaoguang engaged in an interactive exchange with students and faculty.
