USSTBS Launches 6 New Industry-Education Practice Bases and Welcomes 45 Industry Mentors to Enhance Talent Cultivation

On October 20, the Unveiling Ceremony of New Industry-Education Practice Bases & Appointment of Industry Mentors was held on the second floor of the auditorium, No.516, Jungong Road, USST. This event is hosted by USSTBS, and organized by the Professional Committee on Industry and Education Integration under the Shanghai MBA Education Supervisory Committee, and the Professional Degree Education Center (PDEC) of USSTBS. Themed Integration-Innovation-Win-Win: Exploring New Paths for Industry-Education Integration and Building a New Ecology for Talent Cultivation, the ceremony featured key individuals including Sheng Chun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of USST; Qin Jian, Chairman of the Shanghai Alliance Investment Ltd.; Zhang Qi, Chairman of Shanghai Information Investment Inc.; Zhao Laijun, Dean of USSTBS, Ma Jingbo, Secretary of the Party Committee of USSTBS; as well as representatives from the Professional Committee on Industry and Education Integration under the Shanghai MBA Education Supervisory Committee, representatives from collaborative universities, partner enterprises, and related student groups. The ceremony was presided over by Zhang Zheng, Vice Dean of the School.

In the opening speech, Sheng Chun expressed his warm welcome and gratitude to all the guests. He emphasized that the integration between industry and education is not only an important trend in the development of higher education in the new era, but also a key strategy to improve talent cultivation and promote economic and social development. USST has been committed to exploring new modes of industry-education integration. The organization of this event is another important milestone achieved by the university in deepening the integration between industry and education. The establishment of the graduate students' industry-education practice base and the appointment of industry mentors will build a high-quality platform for students to connect theoretical knowledge with practice, and it also provide more possibilities for the university to engage in in-depth cooperation with corporate experts.

Subsequently, the unveiling ceremony of the industry-education practice base was held. Shanghai Information Investment, Inc., MKT-Medicine Co., Ltd, Med-Circle (Beijing) Info Tech Co., Ltd, Shanghai North Central Technology Innovation Enterprises Development (Group) Co., Ltd, Shanghai Juvenile & Children's Publishing House, and Shanghai Jiayao Network Technology Co., Ltd became the newly unveiled bases. Meanwhile, 45 entrepreneurs and experts were appointed as industry mentors of PDEC.

Unveiling Ceremony of Industry-Education Practice Base

The industry mentor representatives share their expectations for the USSTBS. Xin Yejun emphasized the essential role of industry mentors in guiding students to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application, thereby enhancing their operational skills and fostering innovative thinking. Wang Yaping discussed his experiences of industry-education integration, highlighting the significance of school-enterprise collaboration. He expressed the hope of facilitating the acceptance and implementation of relevant innovations to create a synergistic relationship between talent development and enterprise growth. Additionally, Wen Yaxin hoped to establish a robust industry-university-research cooperation program to offer students more practical opportunities and project experiences.

Ma Jingbo made a summary speech, in which he expressed his gratitude to the participating enterprises, industry mentors as well as the Shanghai MBA Education Supervisory Committee and related universities for their support in the industry-education integration construction of the Business School. He said that the School will continue to deepen its cooperation with enterprises, further improve the industry mentors system, and devote itself to cultivating innovative management talents who can adapt to and promote economic development.

Following the ceremony, Zhao Laijun presided over the thematic forum, and two representatives of industry mentors, Qin Jian and Jiang Zhenxing, respectively made keynote reports on “Controlled Nuclear Fusion, How Far Is It?” and “Digitalization of Financial Institutions in the Context of ‘Digital China’”. They shared their views on the history, technical challenges and prospects of controlled nuclear fusion, as well as the strategic planning, key development paths, support platforms and transformation bases for financial institutions’ digitalization.

Thematic Reports

At the end of the event, the guests also participated in round-table discussions on “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Media” and “Medical Devices and Intelligent Manufacturing”, discussing the current challenges of artificial intelligence, the development of medical and surgical devices, the prospect of technology finance, digital transformation of social governance and the innovative development of public services, and the in-depth integration of business education and corporate needs.

In the future, USSTBS will continue to promote openness, inclusiveness, and collaborative win-win partnerships. The School will enhance the integration of industry and education, partnering with industry experts to develop management talent featuring innovative thinking and practical skills.
