On the afternoon of July 1, Jia Tingmeng, a senior artificial intelligence expert from Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., delivered a special academic report in the School’s laboratory. Liu Yong, the deputy director of the Department of Artificial Intelligence, presided over the lecture. Zhao Laijun, the dean of the Business School, and more than 50 representatives of faculty and students majoring in relevant fields attended the event.
Jia presented three key themes: “Fundamentals of AI Technology and Industrial Trends,” “Ascend AI Product Solutions,” and “Ascend AI Industrial Ecosystem.” He demonstrated the practical applications of Ascend series chips, full-stack development kits, and collaborative industry innovations. The report, distinguished by its technical depth and industry-oriented insights, sparked lively discussions among faculty and students.
During the Q&A session, attendees enthusiastically raised questions on topics such as “large model inference efficiency optimization,” “edge computing deployment strategies,” and “AI security and compliance.” Drawing from Huawei’s practical cases, provided professional responses to each inquiry. He encouraged students to actively engage in open-source community initiatives, emphasizing the importance of contributing youthful energy to both academic research and engineering practices to jointly advance the development of the artificial intelligence industry ecosystem.
After the lecture, Zhao Laijun exchanged views with the Jia Tingmeng on topics such as innovation in talent cultivation models, guidance for disciplinary competitions, and collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research. Both sides agreed that in the context of the rapid development of AI, it is of great significance to strengthen cooperation between schools and enterprises. They stated that they would further explore project cooperation and resource sharing in the field of AI, as well as create a new model of collaborative talent cultivation.
This lecture was an important measure for the School to deepen school-enterprise cooperation and improve the application-oriented talent cultivation system. It expanded faculty and students’ understanding of cutting-edge industrial developments and the application ecosystem, as well as provided invaluable experience for the attendees.
