On March 7, the theme class meeting on “Exploration, Planning, and Growth” for the Systems Science and Engineering major was held in Classroom 107, Building Four. Attendees included Gao Yan, the academic leader of Systems Science; Liu Yuanhua, Party Branch Secretary; Gu Changgui, Director of the Department of Systems Science; Zhang Guang, Deputy Director of the Department; Meng Fei, a young faculty member; Zheng Yu, Class Advisor for the 2022 undergraduates; four outstanding alumni; and all first-year students of the 2023 class. The event facilitated in-depth discussions on career development, further education, and employment planning, and was presided over by Chen Qian, the class advisor for the 2023 systems science major students.
Gao Yan elaborated on the core strengths of Systems Science and Engineering, emphasizing its interdisciplinary focus: “Our program focuses on the systematic analysis of management issues, leverages data technology and computing power to cultivate innovative and versatile talents.”
Alumni shared their experiences in employment, overseas studies, and graduate school applications, offering practical insights for students.
Gu Changgui urged students to maintain academic excellence while addressing weaknesses. He stressed the importance of balancing capability development with strategic planning and advised students to align personal goals with the program’s curriculum.
Zhang Guang encouraged students to integrate academic learning with societal needs, fostering problem-solving skills through systems thinking.
