From May 11 to 18, faculty and students from the Professional Degree Education Center visited J. F. Oberlin University in Japan for an overseas study program. The theme of the program was Management Practice and Social Innovation. Combining classroom workshops, corporate visits, and cultural immersion, the program delved into Japanese corporate management and innovation strategies, fostering a globalized management mindset through the interplay of tradition and modernity.
The study tour focused on core topics such as supply chain management, cross-cultural workplace, and global strategies. Participants attended specialized lectures by J. F. Oberlin professors. Professor Han Xiaohong used the Toyota Production System as an entry point to guide students to think about how modern enterprises can build a flexible and innovation-driven supply chains. Professor Dong Guangzhe analyzed Japan's employment system, highlighting labor market challenges and policy responses, sparking reflections on China's 'silver economy' and flexible employment. Professor Jin Shanquan focused on the strategic transformation of enterprises in the context of globalization, explaining how Japanese enterprises reshape their overseas layouts.
At Obirin Garden Hills, Japan's first university-linked retirement community, the visiting group experienced the intergenerational symbiosis model. At Sansei Co., Ltd., a well-known Japanese game equipment manufacturer, the group analyzed the user-co-creation development system.
Ueno Zoo provided innovative inspiration for students to explore the sustainable operations of public institutions. Tokyo National Museum traced millennia of East Asian cultural exchanges through its artifacts.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Dong Guangzhe awarded certificates of completion to the students. He hoped that they would translate what they had learned during the visit into local practice. The two sides exchanged souvenirs and jointly reviewed the achievements of the study program. This overseas study was an important milestone, which not only broadened the international horizons of faculty and students but also promoted cross-cultural cooperation.
