Visit of Dr. Václav Pechtor from Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland

On September 17, Dr. Václav Pechtor, a researcher from the School of Management and Law at Zurich University of Applied Sciences(ZHAW), Switzerland, visited the Business School. Focusing on the application of artificial intelligence(AI), he engaged in discussions with Prof. Fan Chongjun, Director of the Department of Artificial Intelligence, and Prof. Gu Changgui, Director of the Department of Systems Science at the School. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Liu Yuan, Manager of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, International Affairs Office at USST, Ms. Xie Wei, Foreign Affairs Specialist of the Business School, and student representatives.

Dr. Václav Pechtor's research focuses on the application and impact of AI(including large language models and intelligent agent systems) in public administration and public health. He also uses causal inference methods to support policy and project evaluations. The purpose of this visit was to exchange ideas with Chinese researchers and gain deeper insights into AI applications in Shanghai's public sector.

During the meeting, Dr. Pechtor, Prof. Fan, and Prof. Gu exchanged perspectives on academic challenges in AI. Both sides shared their research achievements and insights.

In the interactive session, both sides explored cooperation opportunities in academia and research. Dr. Václav Pechtor expressed his hope to showcase China's outstanding achievements in artificial intelligence in Switzerland and to lay the foundation for project cooperation between Zurich University of Applied Sciences and Shanghai universities.
