From August 18 to 24, Zhao Jing, Vice Dean of the Business School and Deputy Director of the Smart Urban Mobility Institute, was invited to attend the 33rd Cross-Strait Urban Transportation Academic Symposium held in Taiwan. The symposium, themed “Prospective Traffic Management for Rapidly Growing Gateway Cities”, brought together nearly 200 representatives from universities, research institutions, management agencies, enterprises, and academic organizations across the strait. Participants exchanged insights on urban transportation challenges, improvement strategies, and pathways to achieving safe, smart, green, and human-oriented transportation.

During the opening ceremony, keynote speeches were delivered by Wen Daixin, Secretary-General of Taoyuan City Government; Chen Xuetai, Chairman of Taipei Transportation Safety Promotion Association; Lan Xiaoqin, Acting President of Kainan University; Chen Xin, Full-time Vice Chairman of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology. They emphasized the importance of cross-strait collaboration in advancing transportation development.

Zhao Jing presented a report titled “Intersection Optimization Method Based on Dynamic Control of Exit Lanes”, addressing the conflict between limited urban road space and growing demand. He shared theoretical frameworks and practical experiences in intersection refinement design.

Following the symposium, Zhao Jing exchanged commemorative gifts with Chen Xuetai (Chairman of Taipei Transportation Safety Promotion Association); Zhang Xinfu (Director of Taoyuan City Government Transportation Bureau); Lv Shitong (Dean of College of Tourism and Transportation) and Lin Chengwei (Deputy Dean) of Kainan University.

The Cross-Strait Urban Transportation Academic Symposium was jointly founded in 1993 by Shanghai Association for Science and Technology and Taipei Transportation Safety Promotion Association. Over 33 iterations, it has become one of the most influential, interdisciplinary, and high-level academic platforms in cross-strait transportation cooperation, fostering both academic exchange and emotional bonds.
