On September 7, the EDP Center of the Business School inaugurated its first Academic English Training Program. The program aimed to systematically enhance participants' competencies in academic English application, international communication, and research publication, laying a solid foundation for their future overseas studies and academic engagement.
In the context of coexisting global competition and collaboration, cultivating high-level talents who possess both professional expertise and academic English proficiency has become a critical initiative in higher education institutions' internationalization strategies. The training focused on practical academic skills, covering real-world scenarios such as: academic reading and critical analysis; research paper writing; international conference presentations; academic debates and discussions. Additionally, modules on literature retrieval, ethical standards, and cross-cultural communication were integrated to facilitate the transition from general English to academic English, and from passive input to active output.
At the launch event, Ge Yuhui, Executive Deputy Director of the EDP Center, emphasized: In today's deeply globalized world, English has become an important tool for international academic exchanges. Whether it's reading cutting-edge literature, writing academic papers, participating in international conferences, or engaging in in-depth discussions with teachers and students, excellent academic English skills are an indispensable core competence for students, and determine whether they can clearly express themselves, absorb knowledge, and participate in international dialogues on a higher-level academic platform.

This training program had brought together high-level faculty teams and academic mentors from both within and outside the university, adopting a real project-driven, fully immersive English-language teaching model. In the future, it would further launch academic activities such as simulated international conferences and interactive lectures by overseas experts, creating a learning experience that closely replicated overseas academic environments.
The EDP Center will continue refining the program and expanding support systems to empower students in showcasing their academic prowess on the global stage.
