On the afternoon July 19, 2021, the 2021 Kunshan Entrepreneurship Week Huaqiao Special Event, and the Huaqiao Conference Matching Digital Economy with Industry was held in Huaqiao International Expo Center. The event was jointly organized by Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, Keke Space (Huaqiao) Yangtze River Delta Big Data Industry Innovation Center, Kunshan Fudan Science and Technology Park, Shanghai-Suzhou Artificial Intelligence (Kunshan) Innovation and Application Center, and Kunshan Big Data Industry Alliance.
More than 150 delegates attended the event comprising famous experts, local and overseas elites, heads of government departments, and management team of high-tech enterprises, financial institutes and online financial platforms. Also present for the event were professor Yu Xiaofang and Zhang Renhang who are nationally recognized experts, Mr. Li Hui who assumes multiple roles of a standing member of Kunshan Municipal Committee, Party Secretary of Working Committee and director of Management Committee for Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, Mr. Zhang Qiao, vice mayor of Kunshan, Mr. Wang Jianhua who is deputy secretary the Party Working Committee and deputy director of the Management Committee of Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, Mr. Xiao Jianming who is member of the Party Working Committee as well as deputy director of the Management Committee of Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, Mrs Zhang Xiaohong who is deputy director of the Management Committee of Huaqiao Economic Development Zone. The delegates launched extensive and intensives discussion about new opportunities in innovation and entrepreneurship, and new future for the digital economy.
Professor Fan Chongjun, director of Wisdom Engineering Research Center of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, interpreted the “Industry Development Plan of Huaqiao Digital Economy” in the big picture of digital economy in China, Jiangsu, Suzhou and Kunshan. In the recent years, digital economy in China has grown twice as fast as GPD every year and Jiangsu is leading the way in this field.

Professor Fan introduced at the conference that the Action Plan for the Development of Digital Economy Industry in Huaqiao Economic Development Zone (2021-2025) debuted this year. As the Plan foresees, by the year of 2025, new pattern of development will generally come into form in Huaqiao which is characterized by outstanding innovation capacity of smart technology, fruitful integrated application of digital technology, high weight of digital economy in municipal GDP. Huaqiao district aims to become a nationally renowned place for leading digital economy and innovation, clustering industry and applying new technology. Particularly the scale of the digital economy industry will exceed 100 billion yuan, with an annual compound growth rate of more than 16% on average; Totally 900 tele-communication base stations including gNode and 40,000 data centers will be constructed. There will be 20 leading enterprises in digital commerce and 530 enterprises in industry-digitalization business.
Professor Fan also suggested that, based on the current leading position in digital industrialization, Suzhou should leverage on digital industrialization to push for industry digitalization to achieve digital transformation of manufacture, thus set a benchmark for digital transformation in China.
In order to improve the digital cognition, digital thinking and digital ability of the cadres in Kunshan Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, the fourth lecture of the 2021 open course Learning in Huaqiao was arranged in Huaqiao International Expo Center on the afternoon of July 20.
The participants comprised all chiefs of section-level offices or above, cadres ranked at middle-level or above of Yinqiao Group, the general manager of asset management company, temporary stationed cadres, heads of all subsidiary offices, the secretaries of the community Party, and the deputy cadres of economic departments. Mr. Zhang Chao, deputy director of the district Party work department, supervised the open course.
Professor Fan Chongjun, who is also a doctoral supervisor, director of Wisdom Engineering Research Center, and director of Information Management and Information System with University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, lectured the course.

Professor Fan Chongjun explored the them titled Digital Economy Technology and Industry Development Seminar. He gave an insightful presentation on the development of China's digital economy, the development of new infrastructure, the economic development empowered by cloud computing and big data, the smart+ strategy and smart economy driven by artificial intelligence, the industry internet and smart manufacturing in the context of digital economy, and the development and application of blockchain technology. He also discussed strategies for the development of Huaqiao's digital economy with scientific and authoritative macro analysis, empirical data, and a number of cases. His speech is very relevant, forward-looking and instructive.
