The business school of USST held the sixth artificial intelligence salon in the 2nd conference room located in the Block A of Economy & Management Building on the afternoon Nov 2. The theme of the event is New generation of digital intelligence technology and its application in transportation. The plenary speaker of this event was Mr. TANG Feng, the incumbent chief product officer of Shanghai Lisha Technology Co. Ltd, delivered the speech. The event was hosted by Professor FAN Chongjun.

The speech by Mr. TANG Feng comprised two parts. 1) the tale of “Seven Dragon Balls”: a new generation of digital intelligenttechnology; 2) Seven scenarios: intelligent transportation related applications.

In the first part, Mr. TANG Feng explained seven intelligent technologies developed in new era, i.e., artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, cloud, big data, Internet of things (IOT), sensor, and digital twin (DT). Mr. TANG Feng introduced the concept and development of these new intelligent technologies and presented cases of their applications in modern industries. Lastly, he summarized the seven technologies in one sentence, ABCD IS D.

In the second part, Mr. TANG Feng exhibited their intelligent transportation products recently developed for various applications, such as traffic application in the shared bicycle, the bridge internet of things (installation of sensors on bridge structure for real-time monitoring of cracks and aging of the bridge), and the intelligent lighting networks (installation of sensors on  urban facilities like manhole cover, street light poles, traffic signal light poles, monitoring light poles, etc.), blockchain logistics and transportation applications (traceability, express delivery path records), intelligent road patrol inspection (reduction of the cost for  manned patrol inspection and the alternative solution of two people and one vehicle patrol inspection to identify the location, category, severity, physical size and other information of road problems (using image segmentation technology), automatic driving (multi-sensor fusion technology).

In the interactive session, participant were active to raises questions. Finally, Professor GAN Hongcheng, Dr. ZHU Xiaodong, Dr. ZHOU Yiwei, and Mr. TANG Feng had in-depth exchanges on artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation, students training, and industry  development.
