As one of the serial activities to celebrate the 115th anniversary of USST and the 15 years achievements of the USST-BS, the Professional Degree Education Center (PDEC) held an alumni salon themed Growth, Success and Achievement in the second conference room of Block A of Economy & Management Building on Oct 30 2021.Professor ZHANG Yongqing, vice dean of USST-BS and deputy director of PDEC, Dr.HE Jianjia, vice dean of USST-BS, Prof. CHE Liping, director of MPA program, Prof. YE Chunming, director of MEM program, Prof. SUN Yingjun, director of MF program and Prof. WEI Jingfu, director of MIB program, as well as tutors, alumni and existing students of professional degree program attended the event. This salon was presided by Mr. ZONG Jiawu, an alumni of 2004 MBA program.
Professor ZHANG Yongqing, the vice dean of USST-BS and deputy director of PDEC, on behalf of all faculty and students welcomed alumni home, and appreciated the participants for attending the salon. He elaborated on the theme of Growth, Success and Achievement, and called for all alumni to take this opportunity to share their experience, insights and reflections.
The MBA salon was presided by Mr. ZHU Shourui, an alumni of 2018 MBA program. MBA alumnus Mr. ZHU Shourui, Mr. ZHANG Feng and Mr. LIN Jingchao, MIB alumnus Mr. HE Bojiang and MPAcc alumnus Mr. GAO Zhihong discussed the sub-theme of integration of industry and education. The alumni shared and exchanged their work experience on the job market, entrepreneurial environment in the current epidemic. The alumni suggested that the students of PDEC can apply what they have learned from the class in the practice, and bring the unsolved questions to the classroom to discuss and share among classmates. In doing so, the students at PDEC can concurrently get to know more students from different industries, who may become their business partners. This is the advantage of deepening the integration of industry and education. Thus, we should seize opportunities to continuously strengthen the integration of industry with education, and put it into practice.
The MPA salon was presided by Mr LV Qichao, an alumnus of 2021 MPA program. Mr LV Qichao (MPA alumni), Mr. XIN Yejun (MPA alumni), Miss LIU Jue (MPA alumni), Miss. YAN Rui (MPA alumni), Mr. Zhu Xinsheng (MPA alumni) and Mr. LIU Jiawei (MF alumni) discussed the sub-topic of Collaborative Development. The alumni stated that synergistic development focuses on solving the imbalance in the development and strives to enhance the integrity and synergy of development. The alumni shared their views and understanding on the synergy between government and enterprises in the process of poverty eradication and rural rejuvenation, the synergy of the eight systems of China's Manned Space Project, the synergy of policies in building a leading zone of socialist modernization in Pudong, the synergy and integration between enterprises and USST. At the same time, they highlighed the importance to combine their respective advantages with the local government and the advantages of the development of local special industries, and encouraged everyone to actively participate in social work, and help each other based on their own platforms. In the new era, collaborative development is gaining more importance. It has become an law for social development and a trend of the day.
The MEM Salon was hosted by Mr. YANG Xiaoguang, an alumnus of 2020 MEM program, who discussed the sub-theme Engineering Management under the Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Goals with Mr. SUN Lijun (MEM alumni), Mr.ZHU Gang (MEM alumni), Mr. QI Haipeng (MEM alumni), and Miss Lei Qiqi (MIB alumni). The alumni analyzed the opportunities and challenges in the field of engineering management under the background of national Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality strategy in different aspects, and introduced how to help to achieve energy saving and emission reduction, and help enterprises to transform and upgrade intelligent manufacturing. Based on the knowledge of engineering and construction, they analyzed how to carry out green production and sustainable development. The alumni pointed out that the collision of ideas can spark wisdom. Thus, the analysis of how to achieve the Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Goals depends on the various insigts, which should be conducted in-depth research to empower all aspects in managing enterprises.
In the end, Professor ZHANG Yongqing made a summary of the three sub-themes. He explained that the MBA salon focused on the theme of integration of industry and education, and the alumni combined with their own development experience, from teaching to practice, and then from practice to teaching. The MPA Salon focused on the theme of Collaborative Development. In the salon, alumni explained the responsibility of public administrators and governors, from the social synergy of rural rejuvenation to the systemic synergy of aerospace, combining their own development experiences. The MEM Salon focused on ‘Engineering Management under the Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Goals ’ .The alumni shared their thoughts on the social responsibility and professional ethics of engineering management with their own work practices. The cases were vivid and profound, which made all the participants feel their maturity and growth, which benefited us all.
The alumni spoke freely in a relaxed and active atmosphere. The salon went on for nearly two hours. All the participants took a group photo at the end of the event.
