In order to promote the development of transportation engineering discipline of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST), a seminar about developing the discipline of transportation engineering Creating Opportunities, Planning the Future was held in Conference Room 2 of the Business School of USST in the afternoon of November 6, 2021. The meeting was held both online and offline. More than ten experts and scholars were invited from Tongji University, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Southeast University, Wuhan University of Technology, South China University of Technology, Zhejiang University, Jilin University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Maritime University to evaluate the current status and advise on the development of transportation engineering discipline in the Department of Transportation Systems Engineering of USST.

The seminar started at 14:00 on November 6. Prof. ZHAO Jing, Director of the Department of Transportation Systems Engineering, hosted the meeting and delivered a speech. Dr. SUN Yuedong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of USST, introduced the founding and development of USST and expressed the hope that the discipline of  transportation engineering should become an important research field so as to help develop USST into a high-level university, and make significant contributions to USST progressing towards a top science and technology university with distinction.

Dr. WANG Zhangqi, Vice Dean of Graduate School said that transportation engineering is a typical interdisciplinary field linking engineering and management on which USST has invested much to build and develop a research field with unique characteristics. On behalf of the Business School, Prof. ZHANG Yongqing, Vice Dean of the Business School, expressed a warm welcome to the experts and hoped that through this seminar, experts and scholars would feel the pulse of the transportation engineering and give valuable advices and suggestions on the development of the field.
