The 24th Event of Academic Series of “Hujiang Economy & Management Symposium”, the one-on-one counseling on application for National Funds was held on 20 Feb, 2022. The counseling aimed to assist faculty members to better prepare their application materials so that more projects would be granted national funds in USST-BS this year. Ten experts were invited, i.e. Professor CHEN Qiang from Tongji University, Professor CHEN Xiangfeng from Fudan University, Professor CHENG Yan from East China University of Science and Technology, Professor FAN Bo from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor GAO Changchun from Donghua University, Professor LI Shoude from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Director LI Xianbo from Shanghai Institute of Development Strategy, Professor ZHANG Qing from Fudan University, Professor ZHANG Xiaoning from Tongji University and Professor ZHAO Laijun from our school. The event was hosted by Dr. HE Jianjia, a Vice Dean of the BS. More than 50 faculty attended the meeting and were guided one-on-one on their research projects.
At the beginning of the event, Professor ZHAO Laijun, the dean of the BS, expressed his welcome and thanks to the nine attending experts from other universities. He said that the experts can share their experience with faculty members, evaluate their application documents seriously and advise professionally.
Then, the ten experts, five in natural science and five in social science, separately conducted one-on-one counseling to the applicants from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Upon evaluating research projects in terms of scientific basis of the project, contents, uniqueness and novelty, the experts gave targeted and detailed advice to revise research protocols. The participating faculty were quoted as saying they are greatly encouraged and benefited a lot.
This event is of great importance and significance in improving the academic quality of projects aiming for 2022 National Foundation Funds, inspiring research ambition and strengthening the confidence of academic staff of the BS-USST.
