On May 18, under the leadership and guidance of Shanghai MBA Education Steering Committee, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, as the affiliated unit of industry education integration special committee of Shanghai MBA Education Steering Committee, held an online negotiation meeting with Xuxiang (Shanghai) Information Technology Co., Ltd. on the technical cooperation and development of the MBA metaverse teaching platform (phase 1) of the Business School(BS) of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology(USST). Zhang Zheng, deputy dean of BS and director of MBA program of USST, Liu Yong, deputy director of Department of Information Management and Information System, Shen Wen, general manager of Xuxiang (Shanghai) Information Technology Co., Ltd., and others attended the meeting.
First, general manager Shen Wen introduced the integration of metaverse and education, overcoming the limitations of time and space through metaverse, supporting students’ personalized learning, and creating an immersive space for human-computer interaction. Some functions customized and opened by the company for USST are introduced, such as the construction of metaverse MBA teaching base (teaching scene construction), virtual digital human, characteristic teaching functions, exploration of new teaching mode of metaverse MBA (theoretical teaching in the ring lecture hall, case discussion in the seminar room, etc.), classroom interactive communication (the “immersing teaching” in the metaverse), social interactive communication and other functions. President Shen also introduced some typical cases (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. press conference) and technical characteristics and advantages of the company.
Then, vice president Zhang Zheng introduced the development history and basic situation of the BS of USST from the aspects of school profile, school running orientation and objectives, school running characteristics, etc., and put forward some constructive suggestions on the technical cooperation development of MBA metaverse teaching platform of the BS of USST. It is suggested to take USST as a pilot to enhance the immersive experience of MBA students through the metaverse class. At the same time, the BS of USST has set up a research and development team composed of teachers and students. Through cooperation with Xuxiang company, it strives to form a joint training base for Shanghai MBA Education Steering Committee, incorporate the results of the cooperative development project into the training platform, and achieve ideal promotion and application.
Liu Yong, the faculty from the BS of USST introduced some main contents of the technical cooperation and development agreement (Draft) of the MBA metaverse teaching platform (phase 1) of USST, including cooperation purpose, cooperation project and scope, cooperation period, cooperation mode, intellectual property rights, etc.
All participants agreed that the joint development of universities and enterprises can give full play to their respective advantages, and the industry, learning, research, and teaching can be deeply integrated. In particular, the BS of USST set the artificial intelligence specialty with a good Research and Development technology foundation; At the same time, as the final user of the product, the school directly participates in the product development, which is conducive to improving the final practicality of the product.
The negotiation ended in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Both sides agreed that the next step is to strengthen the project implementation, strengthen the contact and docking, and clarify the functional requirements of the development first, and then form a specific work plan that can be implemented according to demands.
