The 18th East China Industrial Engineering (IE) Teaching Seminar and the Summit Forum on Quality Improvement of Talent Cultivation in the Context of Digital Economy was held in Nanchang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics from July 16th to 17th, hosted by the Organizing Committee of East China Industrial Engineering Teaching Seminar, organized by the School of Economics and Management of Nanchang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and co-organized by Jiangxi Mechanical Engineering Society, Jiangling Automobile Co. and Jiangsu Yidingtang Software Technology Co. Professor Ye Chunming, Director of MEM program, USST-BS, made an online exchange on the experience of the development of first-class industrial engineering program.
Professor Ye Chunming introduced the development of Shanghai's first-class undergraduate industrial engineering program from five aspects: introduction of the program, development initiatives and effectiveness, faculty growth, teaching quality enhancement, and continuous improvement. In terms of professional orientation, he emphasized that the program is focused on the major national strategies during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, such as manufacturing power, network power, digital China, emissions peak and carbon neutrality, etc., and also in accordance with Shanghai's construction of five centers, and the key tasks such as strengthening the four functions, establishing the four brands, promoting the digital transformation , and undertaking a new mission of manufacturing development strengthening the high-end industry leading function, enhancing the key support capacity of manufacturing, breaking the bottleneck of manufacturing development, improving the level of industrial chain modernization, for Shanghai to build the central node of the large domestic cycle, provide strong support for domestic and international dual cycle strategic links. Adhering to the concept of building up moral character and educating people and being fundamental, the school focuses on the positioning of engineering-oriented, innovative and international talent cultivation, and takes AACSB and EQUIS international accreditation as an opportunity to actively endorse the comprehensive reform of the major and provide a linkage for the further cultivation of the MEM talents.
During the two-day summit forum, experts actively contributed their wisdom and strength to the cultivation of industrial engineering talents on a new level in the background of digital economy, enhanced the information exchange and cooperation among IE peers, further approached to the academic peak, and motivated the innovation of industrial engineering talents cultivation mode in the background of digital economy.
Utilizing the forum for the high-quality development of industrial engineering majors as a communication platform, our participation in such summits and exchanging experiences, provided by helps to expand the influence of our university and also publicizes and promotes the MEM program of USST. In the era of digital economy, we grasp the new needs and requirements of digital talent cultivation, seize the opportunity and actively act to cultivate more cross-integrated talents with digital thinking, literacy and ability.

Prof. Zheng Li, Vice President of Tsinghua University and Chairman of Teaching Guidance Committee of Industrial Engineering in Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, and other members of Teaching Guidance Committee were invited to attend the conference.
