On May 9, Professor Zhou Wei from ESCP Business School, Director of the MSc in Big Data and Business Analytics program and Visiting Professor at the Business School, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST), was invited to deliver a lecture titled RFID and Supply Chain Intelligence Research. The lecture was hosted by Zhao Laijun, Dean of the School and Director of the Professional Degree Education Center(PDEC), with Vice Dean Liu Weiwei, Comprehensive Office Director Meng Chenli, as well as faculty and students in attendance.

Zhou Wei compared human decision-making mechanisms with the logic of machine learning, highlighting the breakthroughs of AI technologies in rapid response and multi-cycle decision-making. He also emphasized that challenges such as search algorithm efficiency and complex environmental modeling remain critical bottlenecks. In the context of IoT, he explained how RFID technology can restructure quality control systems.

Global industry leaders exemplify the transformative power of AI and IoT. Google leverages massive HR data analysis to build high-performance management models; Amazon uses machine learning to optimize recommendation systems and supply chain collaboration, achieving operational breakthroughs; and Dingdong Fresh’s warehouse experiments reveal innovative synergies between consumer behavior data and logistics decision-making.
Regarding technological advancements in supply chain intelligence, Zhou focused on the integration of IoT and autonomous decision systems. Through smart warehousing solutions, he demonstrated how RFID real-time positioning and dynamic optimization algorithms are revolutionizing traditional practices.

In closing remarks, Zhao Laijun noted that the lecture bridged academic frontiers with practical applications, systematically illustrating the transformative value of IoT and RFID in supply chain management. He encouraged attendees to deepen industry-academia collaboration to advance intelligent decision-making in enterprises.
