On September 19, 2025, Stanford University and Elsevier jointly released the 2025 World's Top 2% Scientists list, which includes two categories: Career-Long Impact and Single-Year Impact. Selected from nearly 7 million global scientists, the ranking covers 22 disciplines and 174 subfields. Professor Zhao Laijun and Professor Wei Guoliang from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) were once again named to both the Career-Long Impact and Single-Year Impact lists, while Professor Zhao Jing made his debut on the Single-Year Impact list. Their research spans energy, environment, industrial engineering and automation, and logistics and transportation.
Since the list's inception in 2019, Professor Zhao Laijun has been included in the Single-Year Impact ranking for six consecutive years (2020–2025) and the Career-Long Impact list for three consecutive years (2023–2025). Professor Wei Guoliang has been recognized in the Single-Year Impact ranking for seven straight years (2019–2025) and the Career-Long Impact list for five consecutive years (2021–2025).
The inclusion of multiple professors underscores the international influence of the USSTBS in these fields and reflects global recognition of its academic achievements. Moving forward, the School will continue aligning with national strategic priorities and academic frontiers, enhancing research innovation to advance toward its goal of becoming a world-class elite business school.
